Jonquil Garrick-Reynolds: Proud Ottawa Native and Jeopardy! Contestant

Jonquil Garrick-Reynolds, a proud Ottawa native and the only Canadian contestant in the 2025 Jeopardy! Second Chance Competition, inspires with her dedication to community, advocacy for diversity, and remarkable achievements on the national stage.

Jonquil Garrick-Reynolds is a beloved member of Ottawa’s vibrant community, known for her inspiring journey and her unwavering commitment to making a difference. A true testament to perseverance and the pursuit of dreams, Jonquil has carved out a remarkable path that has touched the hearts of many.

Born and raised in Ottawa, Jonquil has long been an integral part of the city’s arts and cultural scene, blending her professional accomplishments with her dedication to fostering an inclusive, diverse, and compassionate community. As a proud Dominican-Canadian, her heritage deeply influences her perspective and her drive to advocate for underrepresented groups, including women, LGBTQ+ individuals, and BIPOC. Growing up in a city where Latin culture was not always visible, Jonquil has made it her mission to ensure everyone feels seen, heard, and valued.

Her appearance on Jeopardy! was a dream come true, one she worked tirelessly to achieve. Being invited back as the only Canadian in the 2025 Second Chance Competition was a monumental milestone and an accomplishment that made all of Ottawa proud. Jonquil represented not just herself, but our entire city, showcasing her intelligence, grace, and resilience on the national stage.

The energy at the viewing party, where local trivia stars like Kelsey Kaunisviita Vockrodt (2024 contestant) and Myfanwy Davies (2006 contestant) joined in, was electric. Ottawa truly boasts some of the best trivia talent around, and Jonquil’s performance on Jeopardy! was a proud moment for all of us.

Jonquil’s journey serves as a powerful reminder that big dreams are possible, no matter where you come from. Ottawa is fortunate to have someone who brings passion, integrity, and heart to everything she does. She is the embodiment of someone who not only follows her dreams but also stays grounded in the values that make our community strong.

We celebrate Jonquil not just for her impressive achievements on Jeopardy!, but for the person she is—a dedicated advocate for change, an inspiration to others, and a proud representative of Ottawa on the national stage.
