Youth Services Bureau’s New Employment Services Centre Opens at Beacon Hill Mall

The new Youth Services Bureau Employment Services Centre at Beacon Hill Mall is a beacon of hope, offering job seekers the guidance, support, and opportunities to transform their lives and build brighter futures.
February 13, 2025 by Andrea Shane

This week, our community celebrated the grand opening of the Youth Services Bureau’s (YSB) newest Employment Services Centre at Beacon Hill Mall, located at 1980 Ogilvie Road. This is not just another office—it’s a major investment in our community, ensuring that job seekers in Beacon Hill and beyond have access to the resources, support, and opportunities they need to succeed.

YSB has been a pillar of support for job seekers across Ottawa for over 45 years. This new centre, the third YSB employment hub in the city, marks another step toward removing barriers to employment and creating brighter futures for individuals from all walks of life.

More Than Just a Job Search—A Space for Growth and Opportunity

Finding a job is about more than just earning a paycheck—it’s about stability, confidence, and building a future. Many job seekers face challenges such as lack of experience, gaps in employment, or uncertainty about career direction. The new centre at Beacon Hill Mall provides a welcoming space for these individuals to receive career coaching, attend resume workshops, engage in job training, and connect with potential employers. It’s not just about finding jobs—it’s about building fulfilling careers.

YSB’s focus on removing obstacles and empowering individuals aligns with MP David McGuinty’s powerful reminder: “Don’t let people fall behind.” When we invest in people, we invest in the future strength of our community. YSB plays a crucial role in helping everyone—regardless of their circumstances—access the tools and support they need to succeed. By working together, we create opportunities that benefit individuals, families, and our local economy.

Joy’s Story: A Life Transformed

One of the highlights of the opening event was hearing Joy’s inspiring story. A living testament to the transformative power of YSB’s programs, Joy walked through YSB’s doors unsure of her next steps. With the help of the YSB employment team, she not only found a career path but also gained confidence, purpose, and stability. Today, she is thriving, and her journey serves as a powerful reminder of why services like these are so important.

Joy’s success story is just one of many. YSB has helped countless individuals across the city overcome obstacles and build meaningful careers, and this new centre at Beacon Hill Mall will ensure that even more people have access to the same life-changing opportunities.

A Dedicated Team Making a Difference

The success of this initiative would not have been possible without the tireless dedication of the YSB team. People like Amber, Nina, and Jacinthe are just a few of the individuals who share a collective vision for YSB’s future—one that seeks to continuously grow and evolve to meet the needs of the community. Their focus is on creating lasting opportunities that empower individuals, strengthen families, and contribute to the local economy.

With their unwavering commitment, the YSB team is determined to take the organization to new heights, ensuring it has an enduring impact for years to come. Their vision is about building a foundation for success that will continue to benefit the community well into the future.

A Win for Beacon Hill, A Win for Ottawa

The new Employment Services Centre at Beacon Hill Mall is a huge asset to our community. It provides a space for growth, empowerment, and opportunity—a place where individuals can take meaningful steps toward building careers filled with purpose and stability. This centre will help job seekers access valuable career guidance, hands-on training, mentorship, and connections with employers, helping them achieve long-term success.

When we invest in employment services, we invest in the overall well-being of our community. The new centre at Beacon Hill Mall will ensure that more people in our community have the resources they need to succeed and contribute to a thriving local economy.

To the entire YSB team—congratulations on this incredible achievement. Your work is changing lives, and this new centre at Beacon Hill Mall is a testament to your unwavering commitment to helping residents build brighter futures. We look forward to seeing even more success stories unfold in this space.

This is more than just a new location; it’s a new chapter of opportunity for our community. The YSB team is excited to continue supporting individuals and families in their journey toward brighter futures.
