Ribbon Cut and Kettles On: Equator Coffee Officially Opens in Beacon Hill–Cyrville

Equator Coffee has officially joined Beacon Hill–Cyrville, bringing a warm, community-focused café rooted in ethical values and meaningful connections.
November 20, 2025 by Andrea Shane

We recently had the chance to make it official. The ribbon is cut, the gold scissors had their moment, and Equator Coffee is now proudly part of Beacon Hill–Cyrville. The café has been serving customers for some time already, but the ribbon-cutting ceremony gave us the opportunity to highlight the team, the values, and the story behind this new local spot.

Walking inside, the first thing you notice is how naturally the space fits into the rhythm of the neighbourhood. It has that warm, easy atmosphere where people settle in, greet each other, and feel at home without a second thought. You can tell the team put intention into every detail.

Equator’s approach to coffee is rooted in purpose. Since 1998, founders Craig and Amber Hall have worked with a clear mission: coffee should create positive impact at every step. Their commitment to fair trade, organic practices, and real partnerships with farmers shaped their business long before these ideas became mainstream. For them, ethical sourcing is not a trend. It is the foundation of who they are.

The ribbon-cutting celebration reflected all of this. The café was filled with neighbours, live music, conversations with staff, and a genuine sense of excitement. It was a chance for residents to learn more about the people behind the counter and the philosophy behind every cup they serve.

Since opening, Equator has easily found its place here. People drop in for a quiet moment, catch up with friends, or grab their morning coffee on the go. It has become another welcoming stop in a community that values local businesses and the people who run them.

To Craig, Amber, and the entire Equator Coffee team: welcome officially to Beacon Hill–Cyrville. We are glad to have you here and look forward to everything this new location will bring to the neighbourhood.
