Vision Event Rentals: Sisters with a Vision

Sisters Émilie and Stéphanie Lalonde have transformed Vision Event Rentals from a small local startup into an award-winning one-stop shop for events, proudly rooted in Canotek and recognized with the 2025 Canadian Choice Award.
September 5, 2025 by Andrea Shane

Émilie and Stéphanie Lalonde always had their sights set on building something of their own. With a strong sense of discipline and a background in communications, they combined determination with a sharp eye for opportunity. For Émilie, the spark came while she was working as a public servant in Ottawa, handling events and logistics. On the side, she began exploring the idea of starting her own business. What began modestly quickly grew into something much larger, and it wasn’t long before her sister Stéphanie joined in, first part-time while completing her studies and eventually full-time as the company took off.

One of the turning points for the sisters came when they took part in the Ottawa Wedding Show. Setting up their booth among dozens of other vendors, they quickly realized how much demand there was for the kind of service they offered. Brides and planners were asking for very specific linens and colours, and Émilie and Stéphanie made it their mission to deliver. That experience showed them that their business was not just viable but poised for real growth. From there, the requests kept coming, and the sisters expanded their inventory piece by piece, listening to clients and building a reputation for reliability.

Their hard work and determination have not gone unnoticed. In 2025, Vision Event Rentals received the Canadian Choice Award, a national recognition that celebrates excellence and customer trust. For Émilie and Stéphanie, the award represents not only how far they have come but also the strong connection they have built with their community and clients.

Today, Vision Event Rentals operates from a spacious showroom and warehouse in Canotek. Their offerings include tables, chairs, linens, dishware, décor, and even large-scale tent setups, making them a true one-stop shop for anyone planning an event. What sets them apart is not just the range of what they provide but also the care and pride they take in ensuring everything is prepared, delivered, and presented to the highest standard.

Behind the scenes, each sister has carved out her own role. Émilie oversees the event rental side of the business, managing the warehouse operations, coordinating with the delivery crew, and ensuring that every order is accurate and ready to go. She also works closely with customers in the showroom, guiding them through consultations for weddings, graduations, and community events. Stéphanie leads the tent division, managing everything from large wedding installations to corporate functions. Her days often involve site visits, preparing crews for multiple setups in a single day, and making sure every detail on-site is handled safely and professionally. Together, their complementary skills keep the company running smoothly.

The sisters have also created meaningful opportunities for others. Each summer, their team grows to include local students, giving young people in the area valuable experience while contributing to the company’s success. Their family ties to the neighbourhood run deep as well, their father’s business is located right next door, and staying rooted in Canotek has allowed them to serve all corners of Ottawa while remaining close to home.

Vision Event Rentals is more than a business. It is the story of two sisters who combined experience, education, and drive to build something lasting for their community. With every order and every event, Émilie and Stéphanie continue to prove that their vision is only getting stronger.
